ZIS-485 (BAV) is a ZIL-151 based amphibia (56 KB b/w, front view [28]), (44 KB b/w, side view [28]).

In the first year of its production,1947-early 1948, this ZIS-151 (6 X 6) had a partly wooden cabin and therefore had a somewhat angular shape. Then however, cabins were fully metallic until the end of production in 1958. This truck substituted Studebaker-US6 (41 KB color, side view [69]) in the Red Army. GMC-CCKW-353 (american truck [1941-1945]) (37 KB color, front view [71]) were similar to ZIS-151 and the amphibious version GMC-DUKW-353 (11 KBb/w, side view [70]), (23 KB color, side view [71]) is very similar to ZIS-485 BAV. Another american truck related to ZIS-151 is International-M-5-6 (14 KB b/w, side view [72]). This vehicle, is similar, both in looks [note that both have horizontal radiator grills] and mechanisms, to ZIS-150 (4 X 2) upon which it is based. ZIS-151 was succeeded by ZIL-157 (6 X 6) which in turn looks similar [note that both have vertical grills] to its (4 X 2) counterpart ZIL-164. What also makes ZIS-151 and ZIL-157 different is that ZIS-151 has twin rear wheels, while ZIL-157 has single wheels. As some of the above photos display, some of the later ZIS-151 actually display vertical radiator grills, but what still distinguishes them from ZIL-157 in appearance are the double rear wheels.
