In 1976, as a result of more changes to the Moskvich-408 and
412 family, AZLK-2140 came into existence. For some time (1969-1976)
transitional models sedan Moskvich-412IE and station wagon
Moskvich-427IE with 412 engine and sedan Moskvich-408IE and
station wagon Moskvich-426IE with 408 engine were made. These
transitional cars had a few changes done to their body and a
different braking system. Even when 2140 was in full scale
production, some of the cars were still equipped with 
408 engines. This family of AZLK-2140 was
produced until 1986.
