**GAZ-61-40 never got beyond the testing phase in 1939. In this photos, Grachev is behind the wheel and the main engineer of GAZ, A.A.Lipgart is next to the car. After the successful testing of open GAZ-61-40 in 1939, in 1941 production line of covered GAZ-61-73 was started. GAZ-61-73 served to many famous Soviet generals: G.K.Zhukov, I.S.Konev, K.K.Rokossovsky and S.K.Timoshenko [4].
